Mangalore : A Two day UGC sponsored national conference on ‘Higher Education-Challenges Ahead’ was organised by the Centre for Advanced Studies in Commerce and Management of Canara First Grade College on January 23, Wednesday. Capt. Ganesh Karnik, MLC inaugurated the conference.
In his address, Capt Karnik said most of the problems confronting the Indian educational field was owing to the blind imitation of the West in the education system. He said over 70 per cent of the fresh graduates coming out of colleges lacked the skills of employability and added this was the biggest challenge of the educational sector in India.
Education should empower and enlighten the students, he added.
The function was presided over by SS Kamath, Senior chartered accountant. Principal of Canara College, Prof. Satish Bhat, Norbert Lobo, President of AMUCT, BS Bhat were among others present on the occasion.
