Mangaluru : The National Cultural Festival ‘Alvas Virasat’ will be held from January 4th. The Alva’s Virasat, which has been organized for 25 years, will be held for three days said, Alvas Education foundation Chairman Dr M Mohan Alva on Tuesday, January 1.
Speaking at Mangaluru Press Club, he said, the programme will be held on Vanajakshi K Shripathi Bhat platform at Vivekananda Nagar, Moodabidre. Programmes will commence from 6 pm everyday and will end at 10.30 pm.
A renowned playback singer, gazal singer and music director Hariharan will be conferred Alva’s Virasat 2019, award during the silver jubilee celebration of Alva’s Virasat.
The award will be conferred during the first day of the programme. The award comprises a cash prize of Rs 1 lakh, memento and a citation. Another prestigious award ‘Alva’s Varna Virasat – 2019’ will be conferred on Hyderabad based painter Sooryaprakash, during the valedictory of the programme on January 6″, he informed.
Alva said, ” a musical programme will be held by Colonial Cousins fame Hariharan and Leslie Lewis on January 4 between 7 pm to 9 pm. During the second day of Virasat on January 5, there will be Odissi, Kathak, Kandyan dance (various dance froms native to an area called Kandy in Sri Lanka) and Banjara dance by the students of Alvas Education Institution. Yakshagana, Bangda and Manipur dance will be performed during the final day of the programme”, he said.
