Mangaluru : The District Home Guards and district fire service department observed the National Disaster Reduction Day at Sp office grounds in Mangaluru on Wednesday February 11.

Earlier, a rally was held from the Milagres Church premises to the SP office Grounds.

Speaking on the occasion, Police Commissioner S. Murugan said that disasters could not be prevented by the government machinery alone and active participation of every citizen was required.

The second-in-command of the Homeguards’ Mohammed Ismail, Chief Fire Officer H.S. Varadaraj, and Assistant Deputy Commissioner Srinivas Prabhu were among those present on the occasion.

Indian Red Cross Society, Mangaluru unit, Manipal School scouts and guides kids, home guards unit, college students and public general also take part in the  National Disaster Reduction Day.
