Mangalore : A national-level campaign (JYB) was launched by the Indian Catholic Youth Movement (ICYM) in commemoration of the International Year of Youth was inaugurated in Mangalore on Jan 22, Saturday.
The rally commenced at Thokkottu, via Mahaveera Circle, Nanthoor, and St. Agnes College, before ending at the DC’s office near State Bank of India and comprised 500 people, 50 auto rickshaws, and 105 two wheelers.
Delivering the benedictory speech on the occasion, Bishop Aloysius Paul D’Souza said that all the citizens must unite. Since the youths play a important role in the development of a nation, they must be encouraged in developmental projects and politics.
Krishna Bairegowda, Fr. Onil D’Souza, the director of ICYM, Ivan D’Souza, MLA U. T. Khader, Arun Coelho of Youth Congress, Basil D’Souza, the president of Ullal Municipality, Praveen Alva, and Mithun Rai participated in this programme.
