Mangalore: Addressing a women’s national semiar at Besant women’s college on M.G. Road in city Indo-English novelist Shashi Deshpande said that when women started to write in English, stereo types disappeared and experiences in variety were described in books to portray the truth about women.
Shashi inaugurated a national seminar on emerging images of women in fictions and translations in English.
Shashi referred to her mother who lived in 2 centuries and saw a lot of changes.
The confusion and turmoil around her made her a writer on women with images and real women.
To see all women in one was the attempt of an author within her said Shashi. Prof .P.P. Gomathi asked all men to co-operate with women, and help her find her place their equals.
Dr. Susic Tharoor asked if all Indian Women were ideal lid Ravi Varma’s women paintings where imagery succeeded not the real woman.
Two technical sessions on women were held. The seminar continues on Saturday, March 9 as well.
