Mangalore : Minister for health and family welfare U T Khadar said that District Health and Family Welfare Society will launch the ‘National Urban Health Campaign’ along with health booths and mobile units in Mangalore, Bangalore, Mysore and Bagalkot on October 25th.
He was speaking to media at the Zilla Panchayat office he said that, he would like to make Mangalore city the healthiest one, along with Ullal constituency, Bagalkot, Bangalore and Mysore cities’.
He also said that, the health department will open five health booths in Mangalore and four in Ullal to cater to the health needs of labourers. The main areas targeted to establish the health booths are Jyothi Nagar, Pachanady, State Bank and Bunder areas.
Apart from it, six new primary health centres (PHC) will be opened in Kunjathbail, Shakthinagar, Neereshwalya, Padil, Bejai and Yekkur while, four PHCs in Suratkal, Kulai, Bengre and Jeppu will be upgraded. The PCH will be looked by local MLA or corporators along with a woman SC/ST representative and a representative from an NGO.
U T Khadar said that city will organize a ‘Health Day’ each week in order to keep malaria under control in city. On this day the people must clear the stocked water which has been stagnant for more than a week. Further the meeting will be held to discuss more about Health Day and programme to spread awareness.
