Mangaluru: The nationwide strike called by Centre of Indian Trade Unions (CITU) on September 2, may affect the normal life of coastal districts.
As ten central trade unions have announced their support for Friday’s bundh, commercial establishments, nationalised banks and other companies are expected to be remaining closed.
The strike has been called for the anti-labour policies of the government. But the essential services like fruits, ambulance, petrol bunk, medicals, milk and others will remain as usual.
Many labour associations like auto rickshaw drivers association, taxi unions, bank employee’s unions also have backed the strike.
No holiday for schools and colleges:
In a meeting held at DC Office it was decided not to declare holiday for schools and colleges on Friday, informed Deputy Commissioner Jagadeesh. Despite this some schools already decided to close on Friday because of the non transportation.
Examination postponed:
Due to the strike called by trade unions, Karnataka Open University have postponed the BA/Bcom examinations scheduled on September 2 to September 27.
