Mangalore : A national seminar ‘Art Vis-à-vis Violence’ was held at Ravindra Kala Bhavan of University College on January 9, Wednesday. The programme was organised by the college in association with the department of English. Prof. TC Shivashankeramurthi, Vice Chancellor of Mangalore University, inaugurated the programme.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof Murthy urged educational institutions to maintain quality of education and give more importance to research. Referring to rising violence he said the need f the hour is to find out why violence was taking place and how it could be checked He said contemporary art tries to explore and identify different forms of violence and tries to visualize some solutions.
He also emphasized the need for stricter laws to prevent violence.
Lakshminarayana Bhatta, Principal of University College, Leela Nair, Associate Professor and others were present.
