Belthangady : There is information that suspected Naxals have visited Shishila village in Belthangady last week. Sources said a group of Naxals led by their leader Vikram Gowda and Sundari had visited two houses on Shishila Sudegundi Road on June 28, Friday.
It is learnt, the Naxals had food at the house and then left after seeking the support of the villagers for their movement in support of the original inhabitants of forest lands and their eviction. However, locals refuse to divulge details even though they say they have informed the police. On the other hand some others say some people who had come for road works have been mistaken for Naxals.
It is worth recalling here that Naxals had visited Shishila village on July 10 and 13 last year following which ANF had intensified combing operations.
