New Delhi : Veteran Congress leader Narayan Dutt Tiwari, 88, has tied the knot with Ujjwala Sharma, the mother of his son Rohit Shekhar, in Lucknow.
Rohit Shekhar, 32, had taken the former Uttar Pradeh and Uttarakhand Chief Minister and Andhra Pradesh Governor to court after Tiwari had refused to acknowledge their biological relationship.
A few days ago, 62-year-old Ujjwala Sharma had filed a police complaint against the Congress leader’s officer on special duty Bhawani Bhatt and security personnel for not allowing her to enter Tiwari’s house in Lucknow.
“I’m very happy, Tiwari ji suggested the marriage, it was a low-profile event,” Ujjawala said after marriage.
Prior to that, Ujjwala had stopped Tiwari’s cavalcade and forced herself in the vehicle. She was, however, forced to get down later allegedly by Tiwari’s personal secretary after which she had lodged a complaint with the police.
In Tiwari’s long-standing paternity tussle with Rohit Shekhar, the Delhi High Court on April 24 had declared Shekhar as Tiwari’s biological son.
Justice Rajiv Sahai Endlaw allowed the plea of Shekhar, who in 2008 had filed a paternity suit claiming Tiwari as his biological father.
The court, while passing the order, took into note the report of Tiwari’s DNA test which was taken on the directions of the court earlier and proved that Shekhar was biologically linked to him.
The court’s decision came after the senior Congress leader publicly accepted Shekhar as his biological son and his mother Ujjwala at a press conference in March.
In March, a few days after the Delhi High Court rejected Tiwari’s plea that the paternity dispute be resolved at a mediation centre, Tiwari called the 34-year-old to his house and spoke to him for the first time in years.
Reacting to the meeting between the two, Ujjwala Sharma had said that “it was good the realisation has come to ND Tewari”. She added that he was being misguided.
