Mangaluru : District in-charge Minister U.T. Khader on Monday said the administration was geared up to tackle any rain-related emergencies, including landslips and floods.

Chairing a meeting to oversee the preparations to face the monsoon, Mr. Khader said a team of 30 personnel from National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) has arrived Mangaluru. The team is stationed at Central Industrial Security Force premises within New Mangalore Port Trust, he said.

Mr. Khader said the administration should optimally utilise the services of Home Guards during emergencies. He urged it to provide all facilities to the force. Meanwhile, he urged officials from Ports and Fisheries Departments to take necessary steps to prevent any sea erosion during the monsoon. Officials from various departments were present.
