Mangalore: In a daring theft committed around midnight of October 2 (Sunday) around 11.30PM at the Sri Rama Mandir on Bhavanthio Street, near city Car Street, unknown robbers broke the side windows on the ground floor adjacent to a Health Centre and entered the main hall of the temple that served as a marriage and bhajan hall on occasions. Searching around, they found a golden Necklace on Sita’s idol (worth Rs.25000) and decamped with the booty. They could not lay hands on any other ornament kept in safes at the temple.
The theft came to light on Monday morning, even though the owner’s family members staying upstairs heard some sounds while the thieves were cutting the corner window bars at night.
Temple incharge M.Gulvadi has made a written complaint to Bunder North Police who are conducting an enquiry into the theft case.
