Udupi :  A seminar on “ Kannada Bhashe-Yakshagana Arthagarike’ organised by the Sri Krishna Mutt, Sri Sode Vadiraja Mutt, Kannada and Culture Department and Yakshagana Kalaranga was inaugurated by ML Samaga, President of the Karnataka Yakshagana Bayalata Academy.

In his address, Samaga said yakshagana should get  its due place even in Sahitya Sammelans. There is a need for research on the contributions of yakshagana to spoken and written Kannada. He also said there was a need to stage Yakshaganas in English and also to train children in the art,.

Ambatanaya Mudradi, former District Kannada Sahitya Parishat President, also spoke on the significance of Yakshagana.

S Vasanth Shetty, Block Education Officer, presided over the function. Tallur Shivaram Shetty, President of Yakshagana Kalaranga, and others were present.

Dr Padekallu Vishnu Bhat, Principal of Hiriadka Govt First Grade College  gave a talk on the subject. Dr Mahabaleshwar Rao, Principal of Dr TMA Pai College of Education, presided over the session.
