Mangalore: The fight for the cause of upholding of human rights and the speeches on human rights will be meaningless unless we have an open mind to know the problems around us, said Dr PL Dharma, Lecturer in Political Science Department of Mangalore University.
He was speaking as a chief guest at the Human Rights Day programme organised by the Human Rights Division of University College and the PUCL on December10, Monday. Continuing, he said it is not enough if the Day was observed merely by talking on the issue, it is only when some concrete efforts are done that human rights can be protected.
If we are today living sans fear in the society, then the human rights activists are responsible for the same, he added. PUCL District President David N D’Souza, PUCL member Victor D’Silva, Parvathi Appaiah, in-charge Principal of University College, Dr Shalini and others were present.
