Mangaluru : Nelson Pereira was re-elected unopposed as the president of the Dakshina Kannada Bus Operators’ Association at the 34th annual general body meeting of the association here recently.

Along with Mr. Pereira, other office-bearers, including Jayasheela Adyanthaya as vice-president, Vijaya Krishna Putran as general secretary, U.N. Abdul Kareem as joint secretary and Dil Raj Alva as treasurer, were also re-elected unopposed, said Mr. Putran in a release.

The general secretary said that 5,806 students had been given concessional passes to travel in 350 private city buses in Mangaluru. The subsidy amount comes to Rs. 47 lakh during 2014-15. Besides this, the association had also been offering free bus passes to persons with physical disabilities, he said.
