Mangalore: The Private Bus Owners’ Association in Mangalore has at last launched what are known as computerized ticketing machines on bus routes operated by DK Bus Operators Association, for the convenience of passengers on West Coast travelling in those private buses. The facility had to be postponed twice, before the need was realized, on Wednesday in Mangalore.
A formal programme on Nov. 24, displayed the 108 ticketing machines bought from Mumbai’s Powercraft Electronics Co., meant for east zone routes covered by rural and suburban service buses in DK. Buses going towards Ullal, Konaje, Vitla and BC Road also will be suitably covered by this new ticketing systems. Seva Nayak, RTO, launched the new machines and asked the crew to be responsible to traffic rules.
Chief Guest, Rajavarma Ballal, a leading Bus Operator appealed to his brethren to improve service conditions, to avoid govt, bus domination.
Aziz Parthipady of DK Bus Owners’ Association promised to use the ticketing machines in Mangalore taluk on over 300 city buses. G. S. Hegde also spoke on the issue.
DCP R. Ramesh presided over the reforms programme of the day. Sheshappa Shetty, President of Bus Operators Union welcomed the gathering.
