Mangalore: A new armed Constabulary Contingent is being formed to strengthen Mangalore City Police Commissionerate opened recently, for which selection is underway to appoint 200 constables to begin with. The selection is held in Nehru Maidan (close to Police offices), Mangala Stadium (near Ladyhill), Panambur (port area) and other places from today (Aug.26) upto Sept.9 and candidates are coming from all over the state.
About 500 candidates are being interviewed and tested in each of the 3 points in city, with physical ability and mental strength of each candidate in view. They have to run 1600 metres in 6 minutes and 30 seconds each to enter the selection stage, and face high jump, long jump and other athletic / fitness tests. They are given also shot put throwing tests, passing which they are selected for the AC batches.
The selection is fairly tough for local young men, observed M. Prabhakar, ASP of DK dt, said to Mega Media at the Nehru Maidan.
The 15 days’ selection may attract thousands of state youth and everyone has a fair chance of getting selected, depending upon his physical and mental abilities, to the Armed Constabulary forces, it is learnt here.
