Mangalore : Shantanu Sinha is the new SP of Dakshina Kannada district. He took charge on September 30, Monday. Erstwhile SP Abhishek Goel has been transferred to Bangalore as Lokayukta SP.

He is an IPS officer of 2009 batch and this is his first posting in DK. Speaking after taking charge, he said law and order will get top priority. Efforts would also be made to reduce crime rate, he informed. He also said the government would be requested to sanction additional police station and additional police personnel to the district.

He has earlier served as Lokayukta SP of Belgaum, Bagalkot and Bijapur. He was even the DCP(Law and Order) of Mysore. He has also worked in Shimoga on probation and as Senior ASP of Channapatna in Ramnagar district.

He hails from Delhi and worked in IT industry initially.
