Mangalore: A function held at St Joseph’s Seminary at Jeppu in Mangalore on June 15, Friday, saw the ordaining of 20 youngsters as Deacons in the presence of Mangalore Bishop Fr Aloysius Paul D’Souza.

Fr Joseph Martis, Rector of St Joseph’s Seminary introduced the young men to the Bishop. They were then ordained as Deacons. The Bishop later presented them the Gospel after laying his hands on each of them.

The newly ordained Deacons were felicitated after a Holy Eucharist was celebrated. A large number of priests, seminarians and family members of the new Deacons were present.

Of the 20 new Deacons, five are from Mangalore Diocese, three from Carmelite Congregation, one each from Shimoga Diocese, Gumla Diocese, Jashpur Diocese and Calicut Diocese, six from Kannur, two from Betharam Fathers.
