Udupi: The new Udupi district administration office complex at Manipal (also known as Manna Palla earthen stream) will b e inaugurated at the sprawling ‘Rajatadri’ multi-store complex on Christmas Day, December 25, 2011 at 4 PM, by chief minister D.V. Sadananda Gowda, MLC, with Dr. M.T. Raju, a Kerala Christian IAS officer fittingly adorning the Deputy Commissioner’s chair in the complex at the Land’s End in a corner of Manipal.
The Grama Panchayat of Manipal, a part of Shivalli rural area, is already having Manipal University complex of medical, engineering and technical/administrative (TAPMI) colleges with students from 50 countries studying there. Manipal will be buzzling area.
Udupi was part of Dakshina Kannada (SK/DK) attached to Madras Presidency, along with Kasaragod area which is now a district in Kerala (Malabar).
Udupi area was separated from Dakshina Kannada, for quicker growth and easy administration, by J.H. Patel Government, that created 7 new districts.
There is a proposal to create new taluks, (29 of them in Karnataka), in present Udupi, such as Brahmawara.
The Udupi district was created from Dakshina Kannada, (Kanara West coast was divided into North and South Kanaras under British), on 25th August 1997.
The DO complex is formed now, on 25-12-2011 at the new Rajathadri in Manipal.
