Mangalore: The three meter wide ‘foot over bridge’ at Mangalore Central Railway Station was inaugurated by MP Nalin Kumar Kateel on February 11, Monday. The three meter wide footbridge connects platforms number 2 and 3.
The bridge of steel structure has conceret pathway and heavy duty non-slippery ceramic tiles have been used for steps. The roofing is of galvanized aluminum sheets and the bridge has come up at a cost of Rs 75 lakhs.
The MP also said that tenders will soon be invited for the Baikampady over-bridge and the over bridges at Jeppu and Padil. He said there was a need to introduce additional train services He also hoped that as per the promise made by railway officials the Mangalore Central Station would soon be developed into a world class station.
Piyush Agrawal, Divisional Railway Manager, said cleanliness has been given top priority in the station and Hughes and Hughes Company has been entrusted the task of maintaining cleanliness.
