Mangalore: Pratap Reddy, IGP from fire services, hailing from Guntur in Andhra, took over as IGP (Western Range) in city on Wednesday, December 14, 2011 as Alok Mohan, outgoing IGP prepared to go on a training leave of one year to Singapore and USA.
Reddy told reporters today that he was happy to come to the West coast once more, as earlier he was in Karkala (Udupi district) before. His primary duty was to maintain communual harmony, law and order, and to be a guide to the local police departments.
He would fully computerize the police work, tackle the criminal underworld in 4r districts, control the naxals if any, and terrorism in the region using I.T. tools.
He wanted to reduce the crime rate and asked the public to co-operate as informers. Only the registered cases would be followed up to the end. Seemanth K. Singh and other senior officers were present during the charge hand-over ceremony, at a critical time.
