Mysuru : The City Police welcomes this New Year in a slightly different way. To create awareness about traffic rules, they distributed greeting cards, carrying various traffic norms, in the city, on Friday.
Police Commissioner B Dayananda, wishing New Year, gave away greeting cards to people in front of Kote Anjaneyaswamy temple. The cops distributed 5,000 cards at various parts of the city. Wishes were circulated among tourists, auto drivers, taxi drivers and others.
While greeting the people, Dayananda asked them to maintain traffic discipline. He called upon the authorities concerned to create awareness among common people on traffic norms. He also took out a tonga ride.
Speaking to reporters, the Commissioner said, no untoward incident has been reported in the city during the New Year celebration. Everything was peaceful as tight security was provided across the city. He said, security has been beefed up in the city ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit.
DCP (Crime and Traffic) N D Birje, traffic police personnel and members of ‘Safe Wheels’, a travel agency, were present on the occasion.
