Mangaluru: Newly elected Mayor Bhasker K said that he believes in the concept of development which is purely apolitical.
Calling upon all the members of the city corporation to be part of the development of the city, he said he will strive towards finding solutions for civic issues by achieving coordination between all the corporators and officials.
In his maiden address to media persons as the mayor at the mayor’s chamber on Thursday, he said that his top priority is to achieve robust fiscal health of the city corporation.
Recovery of tax dues is a significant step and related measures have already been initiated by the civic body, he said.
“Also, thrust will be laid upon solving the parking space issue. A project on the construction of a parking complex at the city old bus stand is in the offing. There will be focus on oad-widening and construction of footpaths,” he said.
Bhasker said he can sense a feel of responsibility as the mayor of a smart city-in-the-making.
Admitting that there are loopholes in the implementation of projects carried out under ADB first phase, he said that an uneven landscape of the region is the main hurdle in the project.
