Mangalore: Dr K Harish Kumar took charge as the commissioner of Mangalore City Corporation at Commissioner’s chamber on September 22, Thursday.
Former Commissioner Dr K N Vijayaprakash, who is now the CEO of Zilla Panchayath handed over the charge and responsibility of the commissioner by giving a book titled ‘Urban Fringe on Indian Cities’ and a pen to the present commissioner.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr K N Vijayaprakash said that he feels happy and much satisfied to hand over the responsibility to Dr Harish Kumar. He is an eligible commissioner to continue the development of the city.
He also said that in this two and more year every public representative, members of City Corporation and the media have rendered support in every innovative project. He also thanked the people of Mangalore for their support and welcoming every project led to the development of the city.
New Commissioner Dr Harish Kumar said that former commissioner has given the justifiable management in the city. In the two year has made the city recognized in the country. I will try to follow the footstep of predecessor and will gain the love and trust of people.
About Dr Harish Kumar
He is a topper in KAS 1999 batch and has been training in Bangalore, Mysore and Mangalore in the past.
Dr Harish Kumar hails from Karkala taluk of Udupi district and holds MSc, MPhil in Organic Chemistry and PhD in Peptide Chemistry.
He was serving as assistant commissioner in Puttur since July 2008.
