New Delhi: The Income-Tax Department (ITD) has completed 150 years of its existence. The Union Govt. has decided to mint a Rs.150 coin and release it soon. Finance Minister Pranabh Mukherjee will release the new commemorative coins, before he presents the 2011-12 annual budget on Feb.28 in Parliament. An order, or notification has been issued from the financial affairs in this matter today.
The coin will be made, using silver, copper, steel and tin as basic raw materials. It will show the national motto ‘Satyameva Jayate’ and ‘Bharat’ on one side and on the rear, a Chanakya picture, with a bee sitting on a lotus flower, said finance officials here.
A 5 rupee coin, on the model of Rs.150 coin also, will be minted, the sources informed.
