Mangalore : One  Abdul Salam a newspaper agent has been grievously assaulted by a group of youth over a trivial reason at Katipalla and has been admitted to Padmavathi Hospital.

The incident took place at around 5 am on May 15 Wednesday morning, when Abdul Salam  was on his second round of distributing newspaper in his bike when  a bunting meant for decoration in connection with the inaugural of a new mosque near Shamshuddin Circle  on May 17 got stuck to the tyres of his bike. Salam later requested the nearly 15 youth near the circle who were decorating the area to  keep the buntings on the side  Then Salam had gone home as usual when one of the youth barged in with as soda bottle and warned Salam who was alone in his house. He was attacked   by two others namely Nooman, Irshad and Zabiulla who fled after Salam fell unconscious. It is keant he was hit with a teapoy glass.

A complaint has been registered in Suratkal police station.
