Mangalore: Subodh Yadav, the new DC of DK dt, informed Kanara Chamber of Commerce and Industry members on Thursday in a meeting about “infrastructure development” at their premises that officials of National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) had promised him that the repairs work on NH 17 at Kottara Chowki upto Kulai would be completed by December (2010) end.
When the state govt pays the promised installment out of Rs. 100 crore grant, the construction work of rain drainage and foot paths close to several concretized roads could be taken up, so the citizens had to be patient for govt, approval to come.
The KCCI has proposed a fishing harbour to be set up at Kulai-Hosabettu for fishermen. If the total cost is Rs.100 crores, the Centre bears it, but if it exceeds the limit, 75% will be borne by the Centre, KCCI Chief, G.G Mohandas Prabhu has informed.
The KCCI has also asked for a Cricket stadium in Mangalore on international standards. But 25 acres of land had to be procured through DC’s good offices, said Zonal convenor, Manohar Amin.
DC agreed to look into the matter of a fishing harbour, but was silent on cricket stadium as Amin could not settle on land identified in 3 areas in city already.
