Mangalore: In a foot-march Jatha procession inaugurated by Amrit Someshwar, well known local writer Thursday from Adka to Thokkottu, the celebrated thinker stated there cannot be a dual party in widening of NH from Nanthoor to Thalapdy to 60 metres while in all other areas the NH is only 45 metres in Width and therefore the width should be uniformly 45 metres wide and no changes should be allowed by the govt leaders of the Centre and the State, as well as executives concerned. Apart from restricting the total width to 45 metres everywhere, the compensation of acquisition of land also should be fair and at market rates on the day of such acquisition.
Tulunadu Rakhana Vedike organised this protest march. Its president and founder Yogish Shetty Jeppu warned that various forms of protest would be brought in to play if the demand on 45 metres of width for NHs is not met.
Ullal MLA U.T.Khader announced his party’s full support for the protest against 60 metres width for NHs in state and asked the govt. to take a firm stand on the issue.
M.G.Hegde, adviser to TR Vedike, speaking on the occasion that people who lose their lands must wake up in right time to prevent what happened to NICE acquired land in suburbs of Bangalore and unemployed technicians (in SEZ) who lost their lands but did not get jobs in time.
The leaders of TR Vedike were present in large numbers during the protest march.
