Belagavi: The government is planning to provide meal for destitute people during night time under each city corporation limits, said Food and Civil Supplies Minister U T Khader.
Speaking to media personnel at Belagavi on Thursday, he said that the scheme will be implemented by both Food and Civil Supplies department and Urban Development department. The matter has been discussed with the urban development minister also. Soon the scheme will be implemented.
“Blue print of the scheme is being ready at departmental level. Soon the permission will be taken at cabinet meeting. In upcoming 5-6 months many such developmental schemes will be implemented by the ministry,” he said.
He further said that city corporation have started recreation shelters in the respective cities. The people who migrate from other cities are facing food problems. This scheme is being implemented for the solution of such people’s food problems.
Commenting on the conditions given for BPL cards, he said that the present norms are unscientific and they need to be modified. The process of providing BPL card will be made easier after the discussion in cabinet meeting.
“Totally we have received 15 lakh applications for ration cards. Within next five months the applications will be sort out and the eligible applicants will receive their cards,” he added.
