New Delhi: Three BJP high ranking leaders all MPs who had gone to Jammu to organise the Indian tricolour hoisting in Srinagar on Jan26 morning, could not go into the city as they were arrested and sent to Punjab today. As BJP remained adamant on the issue, its NDA ally – JD(U) disapproved of the move of entering Srinagar. The recent successful CM of Bihar, Nitish Kumar, advised against going to Srinagar on Jan.26 to hoist Indian flag there.
The 3 leaders from BJP had been physically stopped by Kashmir Police at Jammu airport and were asked to go back to Delhi by state CM Omar Abdullah through mediators. After 6 hours of drama, they were taken to Madhopur in Punjab. Omar had disallowed the Ekta Yatra of Sushma Swaraj, ArunJaitley and H.N.Ananthkumar yesterday.
Hundreds of BJP activists and Punjab BJP leaders and ministers were at Madhopur to receive the 3 national leaders returning from Jammu. The leaders will proceed to Lakhanpur to join rallyists entering J&K state.
Jaitley told the local press that they were illegally deported from Jammu.
Even at Lakhanpur, large contingents of J&K Police were waiting for the slogan shouting Indian BJP marchers to stop them from entering J&K state.
Nitish Kumar in Bihar felt no justification for the march and subsequent activities. He did not support what he called the BJP’s Tiranga Yatra. It would add to existing tension in the valley, he stated. JD(U) chief Sharad Yadav also disapproved of the Yatra programme. But whoever may criticize, BJP would not give up the intended Rally. The BJP chief, Nitin Gadkari, is in China on a visit.
The friction between BJP and J&K leaders may increase in 24 hours.
