Karkala: Chief Minister Sadanand Gowda was in Karkala at Nitte to inaugurate Udupi district bio-fuel information and demonstration Centre(16th )set up in Nitte campus at Institute of Technology on Friday, November 18.
The NIT has the assistance of state Board for bio-fuel development. Gowda also participated in the Institute’s silver Jubilee celebrations.
The state has sent a proposal to University Grants Commission(UGC) on setting up 20 model colleges, at a cost of Rs 180 crores across Karnataka. The state has approved 55 polytechnic institutions.
12% of students in India Pursue higher education, but there are plans to raise them to 25%, CM Gowda stated in a speech.
The Bio-fuel Board Chair man, Y.B. Ramakrishna said there would be 31 centres in the next 6 months at NIT, and the state. Biofuel will be introduced in 18,000 KSRTC buses soon. A special College bulletin was released by minister, V.S.Acharya.
Dr. Maheshappa of Belgaum VTU released a SJ sovereign on the occasion. Several distinguished scholars were present as invitees, as also many officers. Y.S. Kulkarni, NIT Chief, read out the annual report.
