Bangalore: Nityananda of Bidadi Dhyana Peetha has filed another petition before the High Court on Tuesday seeking cancellation of the FIR filed against him in connection with the fracas that was reported in his ashram last month during a press meet.
It may be recalled here that Nityananda was even arrested following the incident and was later granted conditional bail by the Ramanagara District Court.
Nityananda, in his petition has said that “The police records said I was arrested under 151 column of Indian Penal Code. Under this column police have the authority to arrest anyone without the permission of the court and this would be in case of heinous crimes.”
Stating that the police had used this column to arrest him, Nityananda said this has harmed his reputation as he had lakhs of followers in the nation and abroad.
The hearing has been adjourned for Wednesday.
