Mangalore: The plot of 6 fishermen in a broken boat missing at the Bunder, where rivers meet sea, is thickening, with anxious Organisations of helpless fishermen blaming NMPT and other Government departments like Coast Guards for their apathies towards “eyes and ears” of the Naval establishment in times of piracy and terrorism, i.e., the fishing Community.
A large fishermen’s delegation, meeting NMPT Chairman on Friday, discussed the dredging issue, and reminded him that the NMPT was obliged to local fishermen in distress, as they had given up their land in Panambur for the new Port.
The Port management then agreed to permit fishing Vessels in distress on boisterous sea Waves, to enter the port for few minutes under permission by using hotlines. Several Associations with leaders were present during discussions.
The 6 fishermen remained missing after a boat accident, meanwhile. The rescued person, Vincent is in Wenlock hospital. Coastal guards got busy in Search with the local police and fishermen.
