Mangaluru: 72nd Independence Day was celebrated by NMPT at the JNC Hall, Panambur. The Chief Guest Shri.SrikrishnaKaruturi, ITS, Chief Vigilance Officer, NMPT congratulated the participants and their families on the occasion and reviewed the march past of the contingents.
The Chief Guest, in his speech said that in spite of being a relatively young nation, India has achieved a number of milestones which are comparable to those of developed nations, who have a much longer history of Freedom. He said that the largest Democracy gave the power of adult Franchise to its citizens right from the day of Independence and through a number of programmes, the government has ensured sufficiency in food, higher life expectancy and lower infant mortality.
The growth of India as an Industrial power and achievement of excellence is the field of space Technology and Defense have been noticed by the world. The Chief Guest also informed the audience that NMPT has also made huge strides in its cargo handling capabilities and also enhanced the pace of supply chain Management in the country.
He urged the Port Community to strive for greater efficiency and maintain transparency, which will help take our country further ahead.
The speech by the CVO was followed by a colourful entertainment programme by four schools of Panambur, displaying their energy and patriotic fervor, the event culminated by plantation of saplings by the senior officers of the Port.
