Mangalore : The Bus Operators Association of the District has in a memorandum submitted to the Mangalore Police Commissioner Manish Kharbikar has said that there would be no bus bundh in the undivided DK district ton July 17, Wednesday
Earlier the DK District Karmika Parishat Bus Employees Association had announced that the employees of city, service and express buses in undivided DK and Udupi districts will go on a strike on July 17.
Ivan D’Souza, President of the Association said the bus bundh call has been backed by all organizations of the bus employees and that the demands of the bus workers have been constantly neglected by the administration as well as the bus operators.
Meanwhile, Jayasheela Adyantaya, a bus operator said the bus owners were providing all benefits to the employees. We give them upto Rs 1000 every day including wages and allowance. Whenever a driver gets arrested after an accident, it is the owner who rushes to get them released. The workers can hold discussions with the owners regarding any demand, he said.
It was interesting to see the bus employees association paste posters of strike while the bus operators association removing the same.
