Kundapur : The child trafficking case that has aroused much curiosity has taken a new twist. Earlier one Ratheesh of Nellikunje was arrested on charges of selling two infants, in Kundapur and Mangalore respectively and that one of the child was sold for Rs 60,000.
It has now been learnt that the first child was legally adopted by a couple in Kundapur. Krishnaiah Achari of Chamtadi, Belur who has adopted the baby has said that there has been no exchange of money. He said the child was legally adopted with the help of advocate Ashalatha Y Kamath at sub-registrar’s office on April 27 this year. He said the parents of the child too were present to sign the documents.
Even the wife of Ratish namely Prema has been arrested and one of the child which was traced in Mangalore, has been entrusted to her custody.
As the marriage of Ratish and Prema is not legally valid, police are trying to find if they were involved in the child trafficking racket.
