Mangalore : JS Shenoy, Deputy General Manager, Syndicate Bank said that the Banks in Dakshina Kannada district have crossed its business level of Rs 25,885 crore as on March 2011.
Speaking at the meeting held to review the performance of the lead banks in the implementation of Credit Plan and government sponsored schemes in the DK District at Taluk Panchayat on July 21, Thursday, he said that the recent level of business is achieved by 427 bank branches in the district including the deposits of Rs 16,472 crore and advances of Rs 9,413 crore.
He also said that as per the direction of Reserve Bank of India (RBI), Financial Literacy and Credit Counseling Centre has been established in the district to take the responsibility to educate the people on various aspects of banking activities in rural areas.
Raising the voice against the student’s problems to get education loans from the banks MLA U T Khader said that students will have to visit various banks to get the educational loans very easily.
M S Hasan, LDO from RBI said that the students if faced any problems in the banks must report it Lead Bank Manager of the District. He also said that no collateral surety is required to give the education loan up to Rs 4 lakh and the officials must follow the rules.
Hemanth Bhide, Lead District Chief Manager, Syndicate bank, Executives and District Coordinators from Banks also were present in the meeting.
