Mangaluru: Mangaluru City Corporation Mayor Harinath showed his unhappiness towards the failure of officials to remove unauthorized petty shops and street vendors.
In a meeting held at MCC about the steps needed to be undertaken towards ‘Swacch Survey 2017’ on Thursday he said that it is decided in the general session of city corporation that the unauthorized petty shops and street vendors to be cleared without any compromise.
“Unauthorized petty shops and street vendors should be removed immediately. As far as the cleanliness of the city is concerned no compromise with such things will be entertained. There is a dire increase in the number of street vendors and they are creating more problems. People are asking MCC to take demolition drive to clear the petty shops and street vendors,” he said.
He further instructed the officials that they should not be fudging from their responsibilities.
Representative of Unique Waste Processing Pvt Ltd, Praveen, said that a unit which will convert the poultry waste into animal food will be set up in the city.
“At present nearly 35 tonnes of poultry waste is being produced in the city. The new unit will help MCC to, as MCC is facing lack of land to bury the waste,” he added.
Deputy Mayor, Sumitra, and Chairperson of Corporation’s Health Standing Committee, Kavita Sanil, MCC Commissioner Mohammed Nazeer were present.
