Puttur: Mangalore city MP, Nalin Kumar Kateelu stated here on Sunday that K.H. Muniappa, Railway Minister of state had assured him that the proposed extension of Mumbai – Pune – Goa – Karwar train to Mangalore would not involve its further extension to Kerala under any conditions, just as Bangalore – Mangalore train was extended to Kannur in Kerala the other day. The train extended to Mangalore (Kankanady) Rly, Stn, and running thrice week now may not be extended to Mangalore Central Terminal until certain technical problems are over-come in Mangalore itself, Kateelu told pressmen as conveyed by Muniappa. But these practical issues would soon be solved, Muniappa is stated to have told Kateelu recently.
Against all rumours, the Union Minister is reported to have told the city MP that there is no question of Mumbai – Mangalore tri-weekly train running beyond Mangalore city.
