Mangaluru: “There is no scarcity of salt in the state. Unimportant rumours are being spread by some people. If someone found selling salt more than MRP, then stern action will be taken against them,” said food and civil supplies Minister U T Khader.
Speaking to the reporters on Sunday, he said that large scale sellers can stock one thousand quintals of salt and small scale sellers can stock one hundred quintals of salt. If found storing more salt, then the stock will be seized.
“This rule applies to other edible items also. Everyone should sell the salt for maximum retail price only,” he said.
Further commenting on demonetisation of Rs 500 and Rs 1000 currency notes he said that the project is appreciable, but the Prime Minister should have planned it more systematically so that there should not be any confusions in the public.
