Shimoga: JD(S) candidate from Shimoga Parliamentary Constituency Geetha Shivarajkumar on Sunday said she was not a novice to politics as she hails from a political family.

She told reporters during a brief stop in the city,‘‘Having a strong political legacy in the form of dad Bangarappa, I have adequate knowledge of politics. Even though I’m new to elections, I am not a novice”.

She added, “I am contesting in order to serve the Shimoga public and carry forward the legacy of Bangarappa.” Meanwhile her husband Shivarajkumar said that contesting elections is not a crime and his dad Rajkumar had never imposed any restrictions on him, but he was averse to a political life.

He also said he would only campaign in Shimoga where Geetha was contesting but not anywhere else. Shivarajkumar and Geetha offered prayers at Venkataramana temple in the city.

JD(S) candidate Geetha Shivarajkumar will file her nomination papers in the city on Monday.
