Udupi: After facing lot of oppose from the public and Bunts community for taking Bhaskar Shetty murder case in hand Mattaru Rathnakar Hegde said that no decisions were taken yet regarding producing argument in favour of accused Rajeshwari and her son Navneet.

Addressing the press personnel on Wednesday, he didn’t accepted that he has taken the case, but he didn’t denied it also.

He said that he has been a family lawyer of deceased Bhaskar Shetty. Bhaskar tried to contact him several times as Rathnakar Hegde was busy with some other case the meeting wasn’t fixed.

“I wasn’t aware of what was going on in the family. I have been approached by Rajeshwari and Navneet Shetty to defend them in the court. A lawyer goes behind ethics not behind caste or community. Lawyers represent the truth and fight for justice,” he said.

He further said that any lawyer can apply for bail on behalf of his client. It is not compulsory that the same lawyer should represent the client in the court also. I haven’t taken any decision whether to take the case or not.

It may be recalled that on Tuesday Bunts community have urged Rathnakar Hegde not to take the case in favour of Rajeshwari and Navneet.
