Bangaluru: Kannada actor ‘Kichcha’ Sudeep said on Wednesday that he had no plans to join politics, spiking rumours of his meeting with Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on December 11. He was launching the logo of ‘We Respect Farmers Trust’ in the city.
Sudeep said he would sell one of his luxury cars and donate money to the farmers’ Trust.
Former Lokayukta Justice N Santosh Hegde felicitated 15 progressive farmers from various districts of Karnataka during the logo launch.
Sudeep handed over a cheque for Rs 10,000 towards education of farmers’ children. Speaking on the occasion, Justice Hegde said, “Farmers should be respected by the society. The government should give farmers crop insurance so that they will not suffer losses due to natural calamities or crop diseases.”
Justice Hegde advised farmers not to take loans unnecessarily from banks to spend on a lavish lifestyle. “Use the loan amount only for agriculture purposes,” he said.
Former High Court judge Justice A J Sadashiva, former MLC and poet Doddarange Gowda and K Narayana Gowda, retired vice chancellor of University of Agriculture, Bangalore, were present.
