Mangalore : A public felicitation has been organized to honour Dr N Damodhar Shetty, noted poet, critique, writer and teacher recognizing his services in the fields of education, theatre, music and literature at Town Hall on Feb 11, Saturday, said Dr A M Narahari.
Speaking at the press meet held Press Club on Feb 7, Tuesday, he said that the day long programme will be inaugurated at 10 am by Kannada literary giant Prof Nisar Ahmad. Rev Fr Francis Serrao SJ, provincial Karnataka Jesuit Province will preside over.
Prof Pradhana Gurudutta, director of Kuvempu Bhasha Bharati, Bangalore will release the felicitation book ‘Nadaaloka’.
Mr Jayaram Bhat, Managing Director of Karnataka Bank, Girish Kasaravalli, B Jayashree, Dr C N Ramachandran, Dr DK Chowta and Dr Mohan Alva will be the guests of honour.
He also said that the event will have three separate sessions on Malayalam – Kannada language, theatre, television and cinema and light music. Dr Rajakrsihnan renowned Malayalam critique from Tiruvananthapuram, Dr CNR, Prof TP Ashok, Girish Kasaravalli, Actor Mandya Ramesh, SN Sethuram, B Jayashree, Prof H S Venkateshmurthy, B R Lakshman Rao will participate as the experts in these literary sessions.
Prof B A Vivek Rai will preside over the felicitation function to be held at 5.30 pm. Sri Nagatihalli Chandrashekar, noted personality from Kannada Film Industry will felicitate Dr N D Shetty.
On this occasion light music programme has been organized between 4 pm to 5.15 pm. eminent singers like Rameshchandra, Chandrashekar Kedilaya, Surekha, Pallavi Prabhu will perform. National Award winning drama ‘Eka Dashanana’will be staged by the students of Alvas Institute. Several programmes like inter-collegiate competitions on music and skit presentation, poem contest for general public will be held.
The winners of these competitions will be given prizes on this day. On this criticism on theatre work, ‘Rangada Amruta- Vimarsheya Garuda’ and a CD on music ‘Nada Bhava’ will be released. The dais will be named after ‘Nagaraja Javali Vedike’ and the auditorium as ‘Dr Srinivas Havanur Sabhangana’.
A drama show ‘Makka; Maya Loka’ will be held at 6.30 pm on Feb 10, Friday at Altorium, Sopangana, St Aloysius PU College for general public, he said.
