Puttur : Renowned Yakshagana artiste Sheenappa Bhandary is no more. Bhandary who was ailing since some time, breathed his last at a hospital on June 24, Monday. He was 88 years of age and has left behind his wife, five sons and two daughters.
Sheenappa who left school after fifth standard, learnt yakshagana and was later part of renowned Yakshagana troupes like Kadri, Koodlu and Dharmasthala. He was also part of Subrahmanya Mela. Several awards have come his way. His portrayal of mythological characters were very famous and made him popular. One of his sons Sridhar Bhandary is also a well-known artiste.
