Mangaluru: The Mangaluru City police have arrested notorious gangster and criminal Charan alias Sharan, a resident of Akash Bhavan, on Thursday.

Sharan has more than 20 cases registered against him, including murder and extortion cases. He was absconding from the last few months. Sandeep Patil, city police commissioner, said that he is arrested under an Arms Act case registered against him in January 2019. “He is wanted in other cases also.

He will be placed under police custody and interrogated. Action will be taken against other members of his gang as well,” said Patil.

A Pocso case was registered against him for raping a minor girl.
