Mangaluru: Notorious rowdy-sheeter Madoor Isubu and another convict under-trial Ganesh Shetty killed in a major quarrel in the Mangaluru jail on Monday November 2 morning.
Six convicts have been admitted to Wenlock hospital in major injuries. The fight that broke out between group groups within the jail.
Isubu was arrested in 2010 by the Interpol in Riyadh and brought to Mangaluru. He had been since lodged in the jail here. He was wanted in the murders of BJP leader Sukhananda Shetty and rowdy-sheeter Candle Santhu, besides several other cases.
It is said that in the skirmish inmates identified as Pradeep Vamanjoor, Umesh Kombar, Yuvraj Soorinje, Shobharaj, Nitesh, Iqbal and Asif have suffered injuries and have been admitted to Wenlock Hospital.
It is said that clash erupted between two groups, with one group belonging to Akashbhavan Sharan for some unknown reason, when the inmates had assembled for breakfast.
It is said that over the last few days tense atmosphere existed inside the jail, with at least three scuffles having been taken place. However, the police sources have rejected this claim.
High security has been deployed in jail and its premises. Police commissioner, DCPs and other police officers are at the spot.
Ganesh Shetty
