Mangaluru: Water consumers in the city can pay their bills to the Mangaluru City Corporation and apply for new connection online now. They are among the 10 services which are being offered online from Wednesday.
People can also apply online for Town Hall booking, ground booking, underground drainage connection, khata registration, khata transfer, to get khata extract, building licence and for display of advertisement.
People will have to log on to www.mangalorecity.mrc.- gov.in and then go to mcc online services, sign up, use listed services sections to avail themselves of the services.
Mohammed Nazir, corporation Commissioner, told that allowing people to pay property tax online will take some more time as the existing property details will have to be linked to software after conducting a fresh survey of property. The corporation was taking steps to conduct the survey. He said that the services covered now were those for whom a majority people were looking for.
According to Mayor Kavita Sanil, the 10 services have been offered as part of the phase I of computerising the administration of the civic body. The corporation in its budget for 2016-17 and 2017-18 had announced that the administration would be computerised in phases.
She said that the civic body would add more services to the list to enable people to get their work done by sitting at home or in their work places. The Mayor said that the corporation has already made its offices paperless.
