Mangaluru: “Netravati Rakshana Samyukta Samiti (NRSS) will be holding Ratha Yatra demanding abandonment of ongoing Yettinahole project. Yatre will be held from December 10 to 12,” said NRSS President Vijay Kumar Shetty.
Speaking to the media personnel on Monday, he said that Ratha Yatre is being backed by many politicians and leaders of the society. Public is also invited to join the samiti during the Ratha Yatre.
“The Yatre will start from Subrahmanya and move via Dharmasthala, Uppinangady, Polali, Kadri and will be culminated at Kateel. Even after holding many protests and meetings, the government is not ready to withdraw the project. Even the people also haven’t understood the seriousness of impact of the project,” he said.
He further said that if district in-charge Minister Ramanath Rai resigns to his post and joins with the samiti then the Chief Minister will surely bend down to the demand of the samiti to stop the ongoing project. Former union minister Janardhana Poojary has given his complete support to the Ratha Yatre.
Samiti Convener M G Hegde said that Yatre is not a political rally. No flags of any political parties are allowed to be waved. This rally is a warning to Ramanath Rai and the government.
“If the government doesn’t declare its final decision before January 26, 2017 then we will make them to realise their political existence. All the public representatives has been approached through letters and anyone who opposes this project can join their hands with the samiti during the Ratha Yatre,” he added.
Monappa Bhandary, and others were present.
